Birchbox: March 2015 Beauty Box Review

The Greenwich Mummy Blog | Birchbox Beauty Box Review

I LOVE my first Birchbox beauty box!

Being a full-time working mummy had been taking its toll on me so a few months back I decided to signup for monthly subscribed beauty boxes and chose Birchbox as a former colleague had referred me to them and all I can say is I’m love!

It cost £10 (plus £2.95 P+P) a month and I receive 5 travel-sized samples one full-sized sample from a range of products i.e. skincare, makeup, haircare, home, and fragrances. So every month, a small box filled with personally selected goodies (you fill out a ‘beauty profile’ on their site to tailor your box) come through my front door waiting for me to try them.

Inside My March Birchbox
All the goodies!

The packaging on every BB never fails to amaze me. Their signature box is white with a brown lid but sometimes they collaborate with other designers and produce something wonderful. Their previous collabs included Womens Health magazine and Sophia Webster (and this month is with Habitat). I know there were many other beauty boxes out there so I wanted to give their biggest rival, GlossyBox, a try. GlossyBox is completely different from BB; the packaging is as the name suggests (glossy) and seems all to superficial for me as the brands they offered were more of your standard ‘commercial’ brands.

Birchbox has more niche and premium quality brands, such as Benefit, Caudelie, Nude, Phillip Kingsley, Gloop! and many more. Glossy box has more commonly-known brands such as Burts Bees, Nivea, L’Oreal, but they also a variety of niche brands although not as many as BB. I love my BB and will continue to subscribe until I’ve had enough of them. 😦 Although I must admit, I have not used all of my samples and they are starting to build up in my drawer! I find that I only use the ones that I like lol… I guess as a last resort, I can always give them away as stocking fillers for Christmas 🙂

If you’re a busy mum who wants to try out new products or a beauty blogger wanting a different product every month to review, subscription beauty boxes are perfect for you. You can also choose to cancel your subscription at any time without a charge (check their website for T&Cs).
