So July’s Flavour of the Month is actually my own creation. Simply because the lovely Glai, from Oh My Glai! who started this blog challenge has currently unplugged herself from the digital world for the next 50 days. She’s simply giving it up as part of her prayer & fasting movement which is a brilliant idea and good on her for taking a break!
Last month’s FOTM was Chocolate and my, oh my was it a good topic! I love chocolate and love the many uses for it from eating and drinking it to smearing it all over my face and body (the body product kind, not the actual food itself!). With summer here, I wanted this month’s topic to be something relevant – something that is refreshing and very versatile like chocolate. Et Voila! I came up with…
They’re yellow, bright and round(ish) like the beautiful sun. It’s refreshingly cool to drink and eat, and it has an amazing smell – yay lemons! Just take a quick look at this article by Recycle Nation to see the many wonderous things you can do with them.
Here’s a list of my things that contain the lovely little yellow thing…
Lemonade is an amazing drink – it has such a refreshing and cool taste which makes it a perfect summer drink. For a great homemade recipe, Simply Recipes has a great one that I’ve personally tried and liked. I don’t normally make lemonade (only when I can be bothered)… I will also occasionally add a sprig of mint for an extra fresh taste.
Lemon Creme Dessert
I LOVE lemon creme! It’s a delicious dessert that’s in-between really thick custard and a yoghurt. You can see my very own lemon creme dessert recipe by checking out my previous posts. It’s an adapted recipe from one that I came across a while ago when I first learnt how to make this simple but really tasty dessert.
There’s two ways to make this beauty; bake or non-baked… I prefer the non-baked way simply because I am lazy and usually short for time when it comes to making something delicious and beautiful like this. No-bake cheesecakes are so easy to make. All you need is a lot of sugar, lemons (for the juice and zest), plain hob nobs or digestives, cream cheese, and good quality shop-bought lemon curd. You can find a brilliant recipe on craftsy.com but I will upload my own recipe very soon.
Lemon, Ginger & Honey Tea
Whether you are drinking this to detox or as a natural remedy for colds and coughs, this special, healing tonic will leave you feeling better in no time! Ginger is good for boosting your immunity, has anti-inflammatory properties, and helps aid digestion. Lemons have anti-bacterial properties and boosts immunity as it’s very high in Vitamin C, whilst honey is a natural antibiotic and energy booster as well as having anti-inflammatory properties just like lemon and ginger.
It’s officially everywhere – from clothing to jewellery and footwear, lemon print is a big fashion statement this summer. Take a look at this wonderful Pinterest board on lemon prints for your quick fix. I am seriously loving the lemon printed bikini and have seen a pair at Sainsbury’s TU range. The swimsuit in the collage above is from BHS’s swimwear collection.
Glai, I hope I have done you some justice! Readers, I hope you have enjoyed this post – it was really fun to write it. I’m going to chill out with my glass of lemonade now then be on the hunt for my lemon-printed swimsuit and high-waisted bikini. 🙂
