Are you tired of buying things that you only end up using once then it goes into the murky depths of your storage cupboards? Have you ever wished that there could be a place where you can rent household items and then hand back once you’re done? If the answer’s yes to either of those questions then sign up online and get yourself down to your local Library of Things.
Whether it’s a pasta making machine or a sewing machine you’re after, you’re bound to find something you can borrow. There are a number of places in London (which I am sure will soon expand rapidly!) which have opened up over the years and it’s now arrived in the neighbourhood of Woolwich.
There’s no surprise – we love reading a new book. My children’s school teacher may argue otherwise as I never seem to read the school books with the kiddos (I do, but it’s sporadic) but they love getting a brand new book to read. The kids have a good collection but there’s always room for more!
I’ve been away from the blog for a little while since my last post as I’ve developed eye strain and pressure building up behind the eyes. Sitting at the computer and blogging using the phone have not been easy on my eyes. I’ve been to the opticians and my prescription’s changed a lot since my last check up so I’ll be getting new glasses. A couple weeks ago, we were sent a delightful children’s book called ‘Big Splash Circus’ written by Karina Choudhrie. I’ve read it a few times with the kids and Little Man’s read it himself once too. Both of them have enjoyed the story book in their own ways.
Today I’ve got for us mummy blogger, Sarah from SarahLou Writes. She tells us what the true meaning of Christmas should be and what ‘The Grumpy Guide to Christmas’ is all about…
1. WHAT’S THE BEST – OR WORST – CHRISTMAS PRESENT YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?
The best present I’ve ever been given was weirdly a hair dryer, which sounds so silly but I genuinely needed and wanted one, I still use it to this day.
2. NAME SOMETHING ABOUT CHRISTMAS THAT MOST PEOPLE LIKE, BUT YOU HATE (OR AT LEAST DISLIKE)
Christmas Pudding and Mince pies, I don’t know why, I am not overly keen on fruity cake and honestly after the heavy main meal having something equally heavy for pudding hurts my tum!
3. WHAT HOLIDAY MOVIE OR SPECIAL DO YOU WATCH OVER AND OVER AGAIN?
The Grumpy Guide to Christmas. I watched it once on DAVE and it’s the thing I love to watch this time of year, oh and Muppets Christmas Carol! We save that for Christmas Eve!
4. WHAT’S THE WEIRDEST/UGLIEST CHRISTMAS DECORATION YOU’VE EVER OWNED?
I don’t think I have any weird or ugly ones; I have plenty of homemade ones but I wouldn’t describe them as weird haha!
5. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SONG?
Step into Christmas by Elton John and Merry Christmas everyone by Shakin’ Stevens
6. IF YOU COULD TRAVEL TO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD FOR CHRISTMAS, WHERE WOULD YOU GO?
Somewhere where it snows this time of year, I want that magical wake up on Christmas morning to a white Christmas. I can dream!
7. WHAT’S YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE ITEM ON YOUR CHRISTMAS TO-DO LIST?
Clean up! Everything looks so pretty until the mess gets created and needs cleaning!
8. IF SOMEONE OFFERED YOU A GIFT CARD TO ANY STORE YOU WANTED, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE?
Lush I think, or The Body Shop
9. WOULD YOU RATHER BUILD A SNOWMAN, GO SLEDDING, HAVE A SNOWBALL FIGHT, OR STAY INSIDE DRINKING HOT COCOA?
Can I do all three? That sounds like the makings of a perfect day to me!
10. NAME THREE WORDS THAT BEST DESCRIBE CHRISTMAS FOR YOU.
Family, Food, Fun
*BONUS QUESTION* THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS IS…
Family, the most important thing is who is around the tree and not what’s under it!

I am very proud to write this post right now. 🙂 I’ve been nominated by Uli from Found Some Paper(Thank you!) for The ‘Versatile Blogger’ award. The main reason is because it means that people actually like what I blog about and it’s been/being recognised by other great bloggers out there.
What is The Versatile Blogger Award?
It’s an award that is given to a blogger to show that their blog has been recognised for all its hard work, great content, and versatility in design, content, and/or style.
If you’ve been nominated, there are a few tiny rules that you need to follow:
To thank the person who nominated (provide a link to their blog if you wish)
Nominate 10 other bloggers and let them know that you done so e.g. via twitter or leaving a comment
If you’ve already been nominated recently then I understand by all means if you don’t want to take part but I just wanted to let you know I think you and your blog are awesome. 🙂
7 Interesting Facts About Me
I have an allergic reaction/intolerance to alcohol if I drink anything more than half a glass at a slow pace
My son was born just a day after my 24th birthday – perfect timing… or is it?
I used to take on art nude modelling casts for professional photographers and their projects – It was a wonderful confidence boost for me and to be honest, the female form is always beautiful to look at haha!
I am still good friends with a select few of people from my educational days; from primary school all the way up to university.
I used to play piano at a Grade 5 standard and was scouted by my primary school (year 5) to get a scholarship to one of the best music schools at the time however due to adolescence and friends, I gave up piano after year 10/11.
When I was really like, maybe like 7/8 I wanted to be an artist but was discouraged by my dad who raised me so instead I made sure I kept up my creativity through my studies and now, through writing.
Being Vietnamese myself, I’ve never had a Vietnamese boyfriend. Partly the reason is because I always feared that my mum would know their parents (which was usually the case) and I hate people getting involved in my private life.
I hope you all enjoyed this lovely post – looking forward to reading all of your interesting facts nominees!
