Gift Ideas for Him this Father’s Day

Father’s Day is this weekend already! I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by! Now officially in mid-June, summer is approaching and the warmer days we had a couple of weeks felt fantastic. I even tried out my Bondi Sands fake tan which was lovely – I need to write a review on that soon. Below are gift ideas I’ve got in mind for Daddy P but I hope they inspire you if you haven’t found anything just yet….

Father’s Day gift ideas

Personalised Photo Mug

For the last few years, a Father’s Day mug has always on the list for Daddy P. I usually order a personalised 15oz photo mug from Snapfish (£12.99) which was always big hit. I’ve ordered one again this year too! I love adding our own photos to the mug, it gives a personal touch which I think is a little special (and cheesy) but the kids love it. They’ve also got a promo code for 30% off your total basket with no minimum spend so get purchasing. They also offer next day delivery.

**update** My personalised photo mug has arrived! I love it, it’s so sweet. The only thing I forgot to add to the mug was some text to say “Happy Father’s Day 2019!” …oops!

Stainless Steel Watch

I love simple yet stylish watches for men. With most of us constantly on our phones today I feel like sometimes we were slowly getting rid of functional accessories like watches. I found this beautiful stainless steel watch on Not On The High Street and best of all, it can be personalised and they have free standard delivery.

The silver colour stands out and is so stylish but they have a few other colours so have a look. For £69, it’s a good price too! There’s so much on websites like NOTHS and Etsy I love looking for special and unique items to buy. At the moment (for myself!) I’m obsessed with dainty necklaces and personalised bracelets. Check out NOTHS’s fathers day gifts for even more ideas.

Skincare & Grooming Kits

It’s good to look after yourself; self-care is one of the things most people tend to overlook in themselves. Daddy P is lucky he has good skin (not oily, not dry) however he doesn’t do anything to look after it. Men usually like to keep their skincare simple so the basic essentials are key; to cleanse, tone, exfoliate and moisturise.

These two kits below are my favourite; the Look Fantastic Father’s Day collection which has a mix of face and body products from premium brands. And the Aromatherapy Associates The Refinery kit is a new favourite of mine which comes with a wash bag. I use this brand at my workplace and I’ve really fallen in love with it. I’ve already gotten Daddy P the face wash and shave oil which is fab and suitable for all skin types.

Cleansing clears the skin of dirt and debris build-up, preps the skin and leaves it fresh. Toner tones the skin and minimises large pores, and leaves the skin matte yet hydrated for the absorption of the moisturiser. Exfoliating (especially if they shave) helps to buff away dead skin cells and reduces ingrown hairs as the pores are clear, allowing the hair follicle to grow out of the skin instead of inwards (which happens when the pores are blocked with dirt or natural oils). I would also recommend a beard/shave oil for those growing a beard. The oil will help to nourish the skin but also condition the beard hair, keeping it soft. Moisturiser is the last step and works as a barrier against daily pollutants and keeps the skin hydrated and moisturised.

Something FUN

Rooftop Cinema

If your man prefers something a little more active, why not take him out for an evening of fun? I’ve picked outdoor cinema or a raving night out at Ballie Ballerson. The Rooftop Film Club hosting in Peckham is showing Schwarzenegger’s classic, The Terminator on Father’s Day. You can book tickets directly from the RFC’s website:

Adult Ball Pit Fun

Ballie Ballerson is an adult-only cocktail bar that has its very own giant ball-pit! So if you and your partner want to bring out your inner child and just spend a night together feeling like kids again, this is not a place to miss out! Tickets are from £7.50pp for admission only or you can go all out with a VIP package which includes food and a designated booth for £25/35pp.

Something SPECIAL

Daddy P LOVES football and I’ve just found a deal TravelZoo for Behind-the-Scenes tour tickets to Wembley stadium… just £9! That’s almost 52% off the standard price. Best thing of all is tickets can be redeemed up until September so he can choose to use it now for Father’s Day or choose to wait for another day when he’s ready to use it. A behind-the-scenes tour is a guided and self-guided tour of the stadium including the footballer’s dressing rooms, the press room, the player’s tunnel, pitch side and the Royal Box. Imagine all those insta-worthy photo moments!

Somewhere ABROAD

Daddy P’s been talking about going to Barcelona but hasn’t been able to get round to it. Between juggling parenting and job hunting it’s been a struggle. Weekend breaks work out really well because you can travel but still be back in time for parenting duties. I love looking for my holiday breaks from so naturally I had a search for Father’s Day trips to Barcelona and found some good deals. You can either search for flights and hotel separately or let On The Beach’s deal finder search for you. I found the following deals for 2 adults; 2 nights in Barcelona (flights & hotel) flying out from London Stansted:

ON THE BEACH RECOMMENDS: The Mirror, Barcelona
£292pp for double room / B&B basis

The Greenwich Mummy blog | Father’s Day gift ideas: Barcelona

The Mirror Barcelona

It’s not called The Mirror for nothing. Photos of the hotel show that the rooms are loaded with mirrors from the bedroom to bathroom but in a very playful and tasteful way. Great for us ladies to check out our outfits and makeup throughout the day.

The price is reasonable and the Tripadvisor ratings look good too. The hotel offers free WiFi, air conditioning, pool and close to local amenities.

ON A BUDGET: Catalonia Bristol
£171pp for double room / room only

The Greenwich Mummy Blog | Father’s Day in Barcelona

Catalonia Bristol

This was the best low budget option I found on the site. Pretty decent price and the hotel looks really nice and modern. With not a lot of hotel amenities apart from air-conditioning and WIFI access, it’s pretty basic. But if you’re not fussed and rather spend more on exploring the city and other things, this place could be a contender.

Their TripAdvisor rating looks good and they have free WiFi which is perfect for a short weekend break.

SPLASH THE CASH: Meliá Barcelona Sarriá
£439pp for level junior suite / B&B basis

The Greenwich Mummy blog - Father’s Day gift ideas: Barcelona

Meliá Barcelona Sarriá

If you want to pull out all the stops this Father’s Day, this is the hotel for you. Hotel Meliá has a lot to offer in terms of room quality, style, and service.

This 5 star hotel has a spa on-site so you can treat yourself (and hubby!) to a relaxing massage or spa day in the evening on your mini-break. Free WiFi, air conditioning and a gym are standard amenities and the location is a short car journey from the beach.

Have you already got other gift ideas for Father’s Day? Let me know what wonderful things you treated your loved ones to! X

Mothercare Greenwich: New store celebrates with #Welcometotheclub launch event

NOTE: Mothercare Greenwich store has now closed down permanently. Please check online for your nearest Mothercare store.

At the beginning of November to launch the new opening of the Mothercare Greenwich store which is based over at the Brocklebank retail park in Charlton (near to the Wickes Charlton store for you locals), the big parenting brand partnered with a team of top parenting experts, including Zoe De Pass of @DressLikeaMum, to host an exciting interactive evening, offering honest advice and tips to expectant parents.

It was a brilliant event and a shame as I wasn’t able to make it because everyone looked like they had loads of fun! Those who attended received personal shopping experiences, exclusive discounts on top of the special workshops and talks hosted by parenting experts.

Hosts from the night…

Zoe De Pass – trendy mummy, influencer and fashion blogger
Zoe is known for her fantastic taste in mum-friendly attire that is super stylish. I love looking at her instagram page for style inspo. At the event she spoke about how maternity style can be done without compromise. The mother of two and fashion blogger is on a mission to challenge misconceptions of dressing like a mum. Zoe also introduced her picks from Mothercare’s capsule collection, THE EDIT, which includes trend-led separates and dresses that can be mixed and matched to offer fashionable yet comfortable solutions to dressing during pregnancy and nursing. It’s great that there’s now a wide range of stylish maternity wear to choose from.

Beth Kitt – midwife and parenting book author
New parent myths like baby brain were dispelled by midwife and author Beth Kitt. Curious parents-to-be could ask as many questions about parenting and parenthood to their heart’s content. With years of experience in midwifery, Beth shared her invaluable tips on pregnancy and surviving the first few weeks with a new baby. She is the author of the book, ‘The Bump to Baby Chapter’.

Liz Day – parenting consultant
Liz talked about the ultimate hospital bag checklist to prepare expectant parents for labour, birth and the first few hours with a newborn. From nursing bras and birthing plans, to headphones for labour playlists, and cotton nightwear to stay cool. This is one talk that I would highly recommend to all new parents. When I was a first time mum, I never got the chance to attend these kind of events (I’d always missed them ironically) but my BabyCentre forum helped me out a lot! A lot of the mums on there were 2nd time mums so they gave me a great insight on what’s essential to bring and what’s not too important.

So as you can see, attendees were treated to a night filled with fabulous people and information. With the event being a great turnout, Mothercare Greenwich has already lined up their next store event. On Sunday 10th December (10:30am-12:30pm) they will be hosting their Expectant Parent event – you can reserve your free space at Mothercare Greenwich here.

The Expectant Parent Event will be running from December 3-10 2017 at Mothercare stores around the UK. You can find your nearest participating store in the link at the bottom of this post. It’s a free event but you have to reserve your space. The event will include car safety and car seat fitting advice, the latest sleep safety advice (very important as sometimes this changes year to year following new research), pushchair and pram choices, and even baby and child first aid however this is at selected stores only.

On their website, you can also join their MyMothercare club to get email notifications of when they have new events, invitations to exclusive events, special discounts including money off-vouchers, be the first to know about their sales and much more. I’m a part of the MyMothercare club and I love it.

From Barbells to Boardroom

I love working out at the gym. There’s nothing more refreshing that a morning weight training session before work! It works up a proper sweat but sometimes that can make going straight to work a bit of a bother, especially if you feel the need to freshen up.

Heritage businesswear company, T.M.Lewin came up with this super helpful infographic. It’s got some fab tips that can really help a guy out – for us gals, there’s also some good advice on there that we can benefit from too!

Thanks, TM Lewin! 🙂

TK Maxx haul

My Latest Haul at TK Maxx

The Greenwich Mummy | #ManicureMondaySo, after a long time of only shopping online, I finally ventured into the outside world and went to my local TK Maxx store for a bit of shopping. I could’ve bought so much more but my budget was stretched enough with the stuff that I got. Here’s what I got for around £60.

Sakroots Beauty Bag, £14.99
I love this makeup case/beauty bag so much! When I saw it I was instantly in love with it. I found loads of other Sakroots makeup cases but this one was my fave because of the unique shape and the wonderful embroidery at the top edge of the bag. It’s got a beautiful lining inside as well complete with a small side pouch that has a zip.

Super Facialist Deep Clean Mattifying Moisturiser, £4.99
I really couldn’t believe how cheap this was so had to purchase it to test it out. I’m currently using my Dermalogica Oil Control lotion with my Aveda Outer Peace moisturiser which is proving a bit costly especially when I am trying to save for LO’s bday I need a cheaper alternative. It’s lightweight but not watery and leaves my combination-skin nicely moisturised. It also contains salicylic acid which is a key ingredient for acne-prone skin as it helps keep blemishes at bay.

Skin Smoothie Retexturising Glycolic Pads (10% Glycolic acid), £9.99
While I had fun looking for a new moisturiser, I also got super giddy when I found these bad boys. These glycolic pads were going to be my new best friend. I’ve had glycolic peels in the past at Skin Clinic which was fabulous but I really couldn’t afford £60 every 2 weeks to maintain it. These pads are not as strong (concentration wise) as the clinic’s however they will do the job for now until I can afford it. I gave a pad a try yesterday and thought it worked a treat on my skin. After I applied it I could feel my skin tingling away and within minutes, I noticed my skin looked a little smoother and glowing. There’s 16 pads in there which should last for at least 8 weeks if you’re using 2 pads a week.

OPI Nail Polish in “Barre My Soul”, £3.99
I love OPI polishes so when I discovered this sheer nude shade I had to buy it! It will replace my Barry M polish in Nude which is running out. Both are very sheer shades so I’m expecting to put on about 3 layers before I get the colour I want. Sheer shades can be hard to apply as they can become streaky but if this OPI is anything like my Barry M it should be a doddle as it’s not a streaky colour. I paid £3.99 for this full sized bottle which is a seriously good price for an OPI polish.

Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat, £3.99
From my nail salon days, I loved using Seche Vite’s top coat. It always goes on the nail beautifully and the shine is amazing. Luckily, so far most of my polishes have been shiny without a top coat but I’d always recommend using top coats because not only does it make the polish extra-shiny, it also helps to keep the colour on for longer.

That’s all I got for my beauty haul. I also bought a couple more things; Ralph Lauren sandals for LO which are amazing and looks comfortable on him and a vanilla & honey scented reed diffuser. I am going to return the diffuser as I really didn’t like the smell of it – it smelt nothing like honey or vanilla but a weird sweet smell instead.

The Greenwich Mummy | #ManicureMonday
Something for LO and home

I recently purchased some vanilla-scented reed diffusers from Poundland which were amazing. The smell was lingered for ages and at only £1 I’d be mad not to return the one I got from TK Maxx for them.

My Latest Primark Haul

I loooooove Primark – they are great for basics and the price is so cheap, you could actually buy two pairs to ensure that you will continue have that cherished item in your wardrobe. Sadly, I didn’t purchase any doubles but I really love the three items I picked up today.

This is my second Primark haul (click here to see the first haul) and as you can see, I don’t purchase a lot and I don’t go clothes shopping a lot either as I’m a bit of a hoarder. So I purchased a floral canvas bag (£1.50), black culottes (£5), and blue high-waist skinny jeans (£10).

The Greenwich Mummy | Primark Haul 2

I am in love with the floral canvas bag! I am a bit of a collector for canvas bags and this is the prettiest one I have seen in a while. I am considering to buy this again because I know once it starts getting dirty, it’s going to need a wash and will probably shrink or become distorted in shape after the wash… sad times. The black culottes are going to be my new staple bottoms for work. I’ve been looking for a pair for a while now and this one was the best shape and fabric so I had to purchase it – it was also on sale for £5 so a bargain really! With the blue jeans, they are a cross between jeans and jeggings as they are really stretchy but not classed as jeggings as they have a proper sip-fly and button unlike jeggings.

The colour is amazing and is what attracted me to them as I have been looking for denim in a similar shade but can never find it. It’s like the traditional blue that you used to be able to find widely, just all one colour not washed with other colours nor bleached. Perfect. I am also loving high-waist jeans as it works well with long and short tops; crop top and high-waist skinnies are on trend this summer so I shall be joining that trend. Who says being a mummy means I need to dress all frumpy 🙂

I also found a wonderful monochrome cardigan (£12) which I think would be lovely for our British summers. It’s light enough to wear when it’s sunny but windy or not as warm, and would also be perfect for those cool summer nights. I love the geometric pattern and anything monochrome is always an added bonus for me!

My Mini H&M Haul

Today during my little break from LO, I decided to take a quick visit to H&M. I haven’t been shopping for a little while as money’s tight right now but I couldn’t help myself.

So after two hours’ of trying a million things on, I nailed my mini-haul to three essential items for this Spring/Summer:

My H&M Mini-Haul
Furry cropped jumper, super stretch trousers, and classic plimsolls

Apologies for the blurred image again – I need a new memory card as I’m sharing the current one with my sister so when she’s out with it I can’t use the camera. 😦

So here are the three items I purchased:

  1. Furry cropped jumper in navy
  2. Super stretchy trousers in ivory
  3. Classic pimsolls in white

These are super simple items but I think they will be able to get me through most of the casual spring/summer days. The furry jumper is light and easy to carry around making it a perfect item for when those balmy days turn to cooler nights. The super stretch trousers are high-waisted with a concealed side zip which beautifully hugs my figure without making me feel uncomfortable. The high-waist also hides my lumps and bumps and smoothens out my body contour. White is the colour for SS15 and plimsolls are a classic item to invest in.

IMG_8941H&M Loves Coachella 2015
H&M has also launched a new range for SS15; H&M Loves Coachella inspired by the fun-loving festival that is held on 10-19 April 2015.

I tried out the two piece and it was stunning – I couldn’t deny it! Usually I don’t wear two pieces or tribal/aztec patterns but I really like the top and shorts. It can be worn together or separately to mix and match with other pieces in your wardrobe. The top costs £14.99 and the shorts cost £19.99 so relatively cheap compared to other two-piece co-ords that I have seen from other retailers.

My ShowPo Wishlist

SHOWPO is an Australian fashion company that started off as ‘Show Pony’ from Balmain, Sydney back in late 2010. The online retailer has many of the latest trends on sale at a fraction of the high street price. Even though they are based in Australia, there international shipping price is amazingly low from $9AUD which is roughly £5.00 at today’s exchange rate (26/03/2015).

I am deeply into my two-piece co-ordinates this season and I can’t seem to get enough of them. Whether it’s top and skirt, top and trousers, or top and shorts I am loving them all! I’ve decided to base my ShowPo wish list on co-ords so here are my top three choices.

The Greenwich Mummy Blog

The Greenwich Mummy Blog

The Greenwich Mummy Blog

I am simply in love with ShowPo! These three sets come up to just over £100 which is simply a bargain as in the UK, you can usually expect to pay around £40-£50 for a set of co-ordinates especially as the majority of UK stores sell their sets separately to make more money but also gives you more flexibility to choose a different sized top and bottom. I pretty much wear the same size for both top and bottom so it’s cheaper for me to get them in one for a combined price.

I love online shopping because it’s super convenient and if I can buy something I like abroad and they deliver to the UK, that’s even better! The other thing I love particularly with Australian clothing is that their designs are gorgeous and the sizes are the same measurements as the UK’s so if you wear a size UK 8, you’d be a size AUS 8. ShowPo has a size guide on every item page so you can always check that out if you’re not 100% sure. ShowPo offers international delivery (to the UK) at a really decent price – $9/£5 for standard delivery, $20/£11 for express delivery. The site also has a section where previous buyers can post up photos of themselves wearing the item so you can see exactly how the clothes look on ‘real people’.

Click on the following link below to see ShowPo’s full collection or alternatively, you can always click on my sidebar banner which you’ll see throughout the blog – I am sure you will be tempted to. 🙂

My Ipanema Wishlist For Summer

My Ipanema Wish List
Click here to see the full range at

Summer is approaching thick and fast! I need to start booking my pedicure appointments now to get my toes in tip-top condition and buy a good-quality pair of flip flops from my Ipanema Wish List for summer.

All those long winter months I have been very lazy and neglecting my feet. Apart from a seriously good pedicure, they also need some good-fitting sandals this year. Ever since my pregnancy the soles of my feet have become really dry and the back of the feet are hard and slightly cracking so a paraffin wax pedicure is definitely in order. I am also thinking of having CND Shellac gel on my toes this summer as they last much longer than normal polish. If you’re going abroad and to the beach, I’d highly recommend a gel polish because you will be able to dip your feet in the sea and the sand won’t be able to chip your polish!

I also can’t wear heels anymore since I have had LO so I think the easiest way to give my feet a good rest is to invest in some well-made summer footwear. No more cheap £4.00 flip flops from Primark that wear away within two weeks and leave my soles black from the friction. I’ve seen two pairs from the Ipanema official UK website that have taken my fancy; they are the Festival sandal and the Bella Platform.

My Ipanema Wish List
The Ipanema Festival Sandal (£20)

The Festival Sandal, £20 is incredibly stylish and would look great during the day or at night. The pretty gold chevron detail looks gorgeous and can be easily teamed up simple accessories and maxi dress for a casual style or dressed up with denim jeans for a night out.

The Bella Platform, £22 is perfect for adding some height to your look, platform sandals are also recommended if you (like me) walk with more pressure applied on the back of the foot. I love the Bella design as it’s simple but stylish and the added heel will provide my feet with some gentle relief and won’t wear away easily.

About The Company
The company originates from Brazil and all of the footwear is only produced by their own factories located in the North of Brazil. Each flip flop is made with Brazilian spirit and culture in mind hence the vibrant and colourful designs. Ipanema sandals are 100% recyclable and can only be bought in the UK by selected official stockist.
