I was supposed to have written this gift guide at the start of the month but it’s been MEGA busy! We had the Platinum Jubilee celebrations on June 4-5 which we attended and the kids also attended one on the Thursday before that and this Saturday we had another one!
If you’re looking for that last-minute inspiration, I’m here to give that to you. Whether it’s a gift for your dad, grandad or hubby, I’m sure they will appreciate at least one item from my top picks below…
Father’s Day is literally THIS SUNDAY and I’ve had this post in my draft for goodness knows how long! It ended up in my forgotten to do pile as I found myself busy doing many other projects at home like making a new PJ set for my little boy and a pair of leggings for my little girl. I then went on strictly focusing on homeschooling my little boy and forgot about myself in the process.
I did manage to get a couple of gifts for Daddy P and I hope he likes them. I bought him a personalised photo collage mug from Snapfish (it’s become a yearly F’day tradition!) and a Lego Porsche 911 set(so cheap and he loves his Lego!).
Last minute Father’s Day gift ideas
If you’re a little worse than me and haven’t yet got any ideas for father’s day gifts, here’s a few to throw at you…
For dads that are the sweetest or have a sweet tooth: Hotel Chocolat
A Few of His Favourite Things Collection / Credit: Hotel Chocolat
Does your hubby have a sweet tooth or appreciates premium quality chocolates? Hotel Chocolat released their Father’s Day collection last week and if you hurry (order by Friday) you will be able to receive your goodies in time for Sunday. My favourite out of the Father’s Day collection is the “a few of his favourite things” collection. The set contains a small bottle of chocolate-cream liqueur, ‘The Whisky Collection’ chocolate set, salted caramel puddles and a fossil-shaped dark chocolate block. Great for men that love booze-filled, dark chocolates.
John Lewis has a massive catalogue of board games for you to choose from. From brainteaser and trivial games, to solving mysteries and winning challenges there’s a game for every dad. A popular board game on the site was Gibson’s 221B Baker Street where you need to channel your inner Sherlock Holmes and play a detective to crack the clues and solve the case.
Love photos but they’re either all stored in your phone, on the cloud or somewhere digital? What happened to the good old days when we had photo albums?! I have always loved flicking through photo albums but printing them out individual then spending hours trying to get them into the fiddly album sleeves is a nightmare alone… but not to fear! We have photo books now and this mini one from Papier is stunning visually and super sweet. It’s a decent size to hold (prints will be 6.5″ x 6.5″) and the paper used is silk with a glossy sheen. There’s enough room for 30 photos (one photo per page) and three colour covers to choose from; green (Super Dad), blue (First Father’s Day) and white (Daddy & Me). If you don’t fancy this particular one, Papier have a few others you can choose from too.
Craft beer &crackling gift box / Credit: Borough Box
I really like the idea of gift boxes and this is a fantastic one. If your hubby appreciates a good cold craft beer and is missing the pub, this gift box should see him through the day. A variety of beers and crackling snacks as the perfect accompaniment. It’s big enough for sharing but he might want to enjoy this one by himself!
For dads that love cheesy novelty home gifts: Getting Personal
Personalised Heritage Blue Plaque / Credit: GettingPersonal.co.uk
Seriously, does it get any cheesier than this?! I really like this gift and find it hilarious but that just tells you what my sense of humour is like. You can write your own message with 5 lines of text to sum up your hubby. Choose from either a self-adhesive plaque or one with screw holes. It’s plastic so great for indoor or outdoor use. There are some fab gifts on this site for every occasion so have a little look through. A few things have caught my eye!
For dads that love a bit (or a lot) of luxury will adore this Soap & Musk gift box from Book Block. I’m loving this box, it’s super cute! Hubby will have super-soft premium cotton sock on his toosies, luxurious hair and body wash to soak with on bath days and a deep cleansing body soap bar to wash with on quick shower days. You can create a parent’s night in with a romantic dinner, this soap+musk candle burning in the background and either a good movie on or unwind to some feel-good music. Enjoy!
– Hope that’s given you some ideas to think about – if not then even a thoughtful home-cooked dinner, a card and some wine should go down a treat. Especially with dining out days currently on hold, a good meal and a movie might be all he wants. x
I hope you are all enjoying today with friends, family and loved ones! Here’s a few photos of what we’ve getting up to leading up to the big day…
If you don’t celebrate Christmas then I hope you’re having a lovely day off work. 🙂
Santa’s Grotto at Lewisham Shopping Centre
Here’s a couple of photos from our Santa’s Grotto visit at Lewisham Shopping Centre. It was one of the few free Santa visits around Greenwich.
What’s most interesting is that this Santa is actually available for hire from The Holly Jolly Co. It’s not only Santa you can hire, the team can conjure up anything you dream of for the kids, from Frozen’s Elsa and Ana, to a range of Disney princesses or superheroes! Visit their instagram page to check out what they do: @thehollyjollyco

Then on Christmas Eve, we had a little fun with some cookie kits we got from Lidl – there’s a xmas tree kit and a xmas jumper kit. The kids had fun with decorating the cookie but it was quiet difficult with the icing pen. In the end, Ams just ate the icing straight from the pen and left me to eat the cookie.
